Scientific Research

Research and development is at the core of CoEIA. Our researchers work across interconnected areas of information security with international universities and research centers, turning results into peer-reviewed papers, patents and national products.

The CoEIA Research Program

Four complementary research domains that come together in joint projects within the Center and with our partners around the world.

IAGE

Information Assurance Management and Governance

Frameworks, policy, risk management and security maturity measurement, mapped to national and international regulations and standards.

IAP

Identification, Authentication and Privacy

Biometrics and identity management, continuous and one-time password authentication, and privacy-enhancing technologies.

ISurF

Internet Surveillance and Forensics

Tools and methods for digital evidence analysis and cybercrime investigation that preserve individual privacy.

NETSEC

Network Security and Cryptography

Design and acceleration of cryptographic algorithms, and protection of networks, smart cards and communications infrastructure.

Current Research Themes

Advanced research that addresses current and future security challenges, across themes including:

Blockchain technologiesAdvanced cryptographic systemsCritical infrastructure protectionAdvanced digital forensicsCryptanalysis and code-breaking methodsBig data analytics and privacy protectionGenerative AI in cybersecurityIoT, SCADA and industrial control systems (ICS) securityAI for cybersecurity and cybersecurity for AI

Collaboration Inside and Beyond the Center

Our research domains overlap in many projects. The governance and identity groups studied biometrics and identity management for homeland security applications in Saudi Arabia, and our forensics and privacy researchers work together on preserving privacy during forensic analysis.

  • International PartnershipsOngoing work with universities and research centers worldwide.
  • Research with Real-World ImpactWe focus on the actual problems facing government and industry.
  • From Lab to ProductResearch results that became national products such as Rawam, Sayyad and Rawam GRC.
