**Lecturer:** Prof. Joel J. P. C. Rodrigues

This keynote focuses on eHealth technologies in light of recent advances in eHealth systems, including mobility environments and mobile technologies. Information and communication technologies have grown rapidly over the last few decades, along with the mobile internet concept of anywhere, anytime connection. In this context, mobile health (m-Health) aims to deliver healthcare services that overcome geographical, temporal and even organizational barriers.

Pervasive and m-Health services aim to respond to several emerging problems in health services, including the increasing number of chronic diseases related to lifestyle, the high costs of existing national health services, the need to empower patients and families to self-care and manage their own healthcare, and the need to provide direct access to health services regardless of time and place.

Prof. Rodrigues is a professor at the National Institute of Telecommunications (Inatel), Brazil, and a senior researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações, Portugal. He leads the Internet of Things research group (CNPq), is an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer and editor-in-chief of the International Journal on E-Health and Medical Communications, and has authored or coauthored more than 700 papers in refereed international journals and conferences, 3 books and 2 patents.
